Altai is not only one of the most picturesque regions of Russia, but also an ideal place for hunting. In fact, this is a place, where ancient civilization of hunters and warriors appeared. This is the place where the mountain taiga zone, the steppes and semi-deserts are so organically combined. It is the diversity of natural zones and low population density that determined the rich fauna of the region.
The nature of Altai is so beautiful that people call it "Russian Tibet" Here, harsh mountains with snow-white caps go straight into the sky, ice streams of rivers flowing along them. Blue lakes reflect the blue of the sky, green grass covers alpine meadows. Most of the hunting grounds are located in the highlands.
Types of animals: maral, ibex, roe deer, bear, wolf.
Other possible trophies: wood grouse, hazel grouse, white partridge.
During the tour (September-October), the air temperature can vary from + 25 to - 15 degrees, depending on weather conditions, altitude and time of day. Height above sea level - 1200-3000 meters. The hunting grounds are situated in mountain taiga zone.
Time for hunting:
Siberian mountain goat (ibex) - from August 01 to November 30.
Maral - from September 01 to December 31.
Bear - from April 1 to May 31 and from August 1 to November 30.
Siberian roe deer is from August 25 to September 20 and from November 15 to December 31.
Wild boar - from August 01 to February 28.
Groundhog - from August 01 to September 15.
Wood grouse and black grouse - March 01 to June 16 and from the 4th Saturday of August to 31 December
The duration of the hunt (excluding the way to the base camp) is from 5 to 10 days. At the request of the hunter, the hunting time may be extended, but not more than for 2 days.
The accommodation depends on the time of the hunt and the type of animal: it will either be a campground or hunting huts.
The number of people in one group: up to three people (four people by agreement). During the hunt, each hunter is accompanied by a huntsman, or by both a huntsman and a groom.
The distance from Gorno-Altaisk (the capital of the Altai Republic) to the place of hunting ranges from 350 km to 500 km. Delivery from Gorno-Altaisk is either by road or by helicopter. Then the hunters go on horse (about 40 km).
Arrival in Gorno-Altaisk (or Barnaul or Novosibirsk);
Transfer to Kucherla Station (base camp, 470 km from Gorno-Altaisk);
Or Transfer to the base camp by helicopter, 2 hours 20 minutes.

Every hunter should have a hunter ticket, a hunting license, a permit for carrying and storing weapons, weapons and ammunition, clothing and footwear appropriate for the hunting season.
