Valdai is an ancient Russian city that has preserved monuments of culture, history and architecture of the 10th - 17th centuries. Valdai is located among the age-old forests, picturesque hills, on the shores of the Valdai Lake.
The main Orthodox landmark of Valdai, the Iversky Monastery, is located on Selvitsky Island of Valdai Lake. The monastery was founded in the middle of the 17th century.
Optionally you may visit the Museum of Bells, the only one of this kind in Russia. Valdai has long been famous for its workshops and manufacture of bells, so this is the best place to learn about this industry. The Museum of the County house is another interesting attraction. Everything connected with the history and traditions of the region can be learned by visiting this landmark. The museum is located in the center of Valdai, in a two-story noble mansion of the 19th century.
