Although Kaliningrad is a seaport, it is located off the coast of the Baltic Sea. The city and port are connected by a 43-kilometer-long navigable canal built at the beginning of the 20th century along the the Pregol river.
The sea is present here very clearly. For example, in the Museum of the World Ocean. It is the central maritime museum of Russia. Unique collections: shells of marine mollusks, scientific drawings of fish, graphic works by marine painters, ship models, ancient and modern maps. The Embankment of the historical fleet is a real pride of the museum.
