Amalienau was at one time its suburb with the most luxirous villas. Now it is here that you need to go to admire the heritage of the pre-war past of the city in all its glory. There are no intersections with right angles: the streets bend in an arc and curl.
Mostly the houses in Amalienau are art nouveau, although there are renaissance and classic ones. Almost every mansion was built on a separate project. They were decorated with sculptures, bas-reliefs, weathercocks and complex roofs.
Museum-apartment Altes House recreated authentic interior of the apartment makes it possible to fully feel the spirit of the old Königsberg and see how the life of the citizens of the 19th - early 20th centuries flowed.
The building in which the museum-apartment is located was built in 1912 as a tenement house. The apartment belonged to the family of the merchant and the owner of the grocery store Gustav Grosmann. The store was located on the corner of the same house. After the war, the apartment became communal, for three families. In 2014 the apartment was turned into a museum.
