Another place that needs to be presented. Seliger, another name is Ostashkovskoe Lake, after the name of the town of Ostashkov, which stands on the lakeshore, Tver region.
The lake area is 260 square kilometers, including about 38 sq. km are the islands (there are more than 160). The largest among them is the island of Khachin.
The lake is located at an altitude of 205 meters above sea level and has a glacial origin. It explains the peculiar form - it is not a lake in the usual concept, but a chain of lakes stretching from north to south for 100 km and interconnected by short narrow channels.
The coastline is more than 500 km long has wooded capes, deep, picturesque bays that penetrated the land, various forms of the islands.
The water in the Seliger is clear and the transparency reaches 5 meters. On the shores of the southern part of Lake Seliger are located the Ostashkov city and the estate “Novye Yeltsy”.
