The Lion Bridge is a pedestrian bridge over the Griboyedov Canal in St. Petersburg. One of the three remaining pedestrian chain bridges in St. Petersburg.
The bridge got its name because of four sculptures of lions in the corners of the bridge. The lions are not empty, inside them there are supporting mechanisms that hold the chains of the bridge structure.
There is a superstition associated with the bridge. Before the era of ultrasound popularity, people came here to find out the sex of their future child. In order to do this, one should wait until a stranger passes the bridge. If it is a man, than a boy will be born. If it is a woman, than a girl.
