Sandunovsky baths – the place, where the famous movie “Irony of Fate” was filmed.
The largest bath complex in the capital. The building has preserved the historic interior, number baths, laundry, beauty salon and restaurant.
Sandunovsky baths, simply called Sanduny, are public baths operating since 1808, as well as an architectural monument, which is located in the center of Moscow.
The name of the baths was borrowed from the Georgian actor of the time of Ekaterina II Sila Sandunov, who bought a plot of land to build baths on it in 1800.
Since 1896, water has been taken from the Babyegorodsky dam, and electricity has been generated from its own power station (by the way, this electricity was borrowed to light the coronation of Nickolay II).
About 400 bathhouse attendants worked here. In this place, could be met famous writers, artists, actors, as well as high-ranking officials (Mayakovsky, Shalyapin, Chekhov, Turgenev, Gilyarovsky and Vysotsky).
In the years 1945-1946, the Sanduny were restored by the architect Chanin and are still in use.
