Sochi: Winter Olympics Capital of Russia
Sochi is the capital of the 2014 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. In 2007, large-scale work began on the construction of Olympic facilities, laying of new tracks and tunnels.

The city turned into one huge building site. The city has changed. Many architectural monuments were restored, infrastructure objects were put in order.

For the XXII Olympic and XI Paralympic Games, two clusters were built: the coastal (in the Imeretinsky lowland) and the mountain (Krasnaya Polyana, Rosa Khutor). Thanks to this division, it was possible to successfully hold the winter Olympics in the subtropics: competitions were held in the mountains in the open air, in the snow (biathlon, jumping, skiing, etc.), and at the sea - competitions in closed stadiums (hockey, figure skating, curling and etc.).

For 7 years, a huge Olympic Park and the Olympic Village were built by the sea, later added to Sochi Park (opened in June 2014, our response to Disneyland) and the Formula 1 circuit (the first race of the Russian Grand Prix took place here on October 12, 2014 ).

All Olympic facilities are grouped around the Main Ceremonial Square Medal Plaza. Here is the Olympic flame bowl. In the evening, the Olympic Flame Bowl turns into a light-music fountain. If you stand in front of it, then it and the stadium “Fisht” behind will appear as a single object, symbolizing the Firebird. From here you can see all the Olympic facilities.

Nowadays, there are a lot of people in the Olympic Park, people come here for the whole day or for a few days, training and competitions are regularly held at the stadiums, various shows are held.
