The town of Novorossiysk is the largest sea port in Russia. It is also a resort area with plenty of beaches. Located on the northern coast of the Black Sea, Novorossiysk boasts a warm climate: the water temperature in summer may reach 28 ºC (82 ºF) degrees. The most interesting and attractive of the beaches are Alexino and Kosa.
Other prominent landmarks of the town are mostly concentrated in the Central District that starts from Magistralnaya Street. They include beautiful cathedrals, parks, the Admiral Serebryakov Embankment, and a planetarium (the only one in Krasnodar Krai). There is also a number of WWII-related monuments (Novorossiysk being a hero city) and some interesting nature spots like ancient dolmens in the mountains. A must-visit is the Seven Winds observation deck that offers breathtaking views on the city (especially, at night!).
Novorossiysk is full of cafes, bars and night clubs (some of them, like the theater-like ‘Mozart’ club, are really impressive!). There are also four large shopping and leisure centers which is pretty much for a town of this size.
One more highlight of the place is… its people! It has been noted by many that residents of Novorossiysk are exceptionally friendly and hospitable. So, you are welcome! Only beware of tornados that may occur from September to April... Perhaps, August would be your best bet!
