Petropavlovsky Lighthouse is one of the oldest lighthouses in the Far East. It is located on Mayachny Cape, 12 km away from the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, on the Kamchatka Peninsula. The history of the lighthouse dates to the year 1740. Back then, it was a wooden structure with a bonfire as a signal for ships entering the waters of the Avacha Bay.
In 1897, the lighthouse was rebuilt and got its current shape and name. It still operates to this day.
The road leading to the cape is a bit challenging, but the trip is totally worth it! The views on the Avacha Bay that open from the cape are breathtaking! You will get to see and the Three Brothers rocks (a visiting card of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky) and gorgeous snow-capped domestic volcanoes.
Once you are in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, do not hesitate to plan a visit to this magic place!
