The ballet has no nationality, although it has French and Italian roots. Almost every country in the world has its own troupes of classical dance. Nevertheless, ballet has its "citizenship" which is Russia.
"Russian ballet" – those words are inseparable. Russia is the best place in the world to see a real ballet. At different times, the ballet was localized in two capitals of the country - Moscow and St. Petersburg, until two schools appeared: restrained, academic Petersburg and artistic, temperamental Moscow.
Bolshoy Theatre (Moscow)
To this day, the ballets Swan Lake, Don Quixote, La Bayadere, Giselle, The Nutcracker and many other classical masterpieces are on stage with great success.
The Bolshoi Theater has two stages and one hall:
The historical scene, seats 2500 people;
New stage, seats 1000 spectators;

Despite the location in Moscow, this theater always remained on the sidelines. Recently, the star of the Paris Opera Laurent Hilaire was invited to lead the ballet troupe. He reduced the number of old multi-act plays and staked on a variety of new ideas.

Mikhailovsky Theater (St. Petersburg)
Mikhailovsky Theater is the famous musical theater, the pearl of St. Petersburg. Classical traditions are combined here with creative pursuits and innovative experiments. The theater was opened in 1833 by order of Emperor Nicholas I and gave performances by French and German troupes.

St. Petersburg Russian Ballet Theater
The Saint-Petersburg Russian Ballet Theater inherited not only the name of the legendary Diaghilev troupe, but also its unique spirit and energy, which are combined with traditions of the Russian Imperial Ballet. The original choreography and noble manner of performance are carefully preserved.
